To design our die is not enough just to
draw it. We need to make a tool that is capable of cut and blend the material ,
in order to obtain the pieces the client ( in this case the teachers) ask us
for. So, to do that we need to make a
lot of investigation. To understand how
it works this kind of tools . So we continue reading the information they give
us, like the last week. Appart of that we need to make some calculus
to be able to design properly our tool. Our die need to cut and blend the material and
the calculus are necessary to know the proper process to do that. What size and shape does the part of the die
that cut need? What kind of procces we need to blend the material? To know that we need to make some
investigation and calculations. And to know how to do this the teachers started
given us some theory.
So in this week we are in the investigation
stage of the project. Completing this
with the search and read of information and the theory that they have given us.
In this second week we are learning the theory of the blend processes (thanks of our teacher
Gaizka) ,completing it with some practical exercises. For example we have seen
how to calculate the neutral fiber of the sheets.
Apart of that, this year we are going to
draw with Catia design program. The last
year we used another software’s, AutoCad to draw in 2D and SolidWorks to draw
in 3D. So Catia is new for us and we need to know how it works. The teacher (Julen) started given us the basic
instructions to start learning to use the program. And with this little
theoretical information we began to practice drawing easy pieces. After all
this kind of thinks are learned through practice.

We started with the phisycal concepts of the calculations of
the die. In this case we have done the theory of bent process. In this theory
we saw the geometrical types of a simple piece and we started making the first
excercises. We saw the concept of neutral fiber and the use of it in the
theory.
There are different types of bent process to different
cases. There is bent with a U form, V form, L form… We did such exercises
during the week with Gaizka, practicing with all types of bending.
In the part of Julen we made a
lot of excercises in Catia. This excercises were simply pieces to learn the
basic patterns of the software. For example we learned multipad, hole and
pocket operations. This operations are for construction of the piece and this
elements. First we made the multipad to extrusion different areas:
After this pattern we learned to use hole pattern, to make
different types of holes in the skin of an area.
To finish with the drawing subject, we used pocket pattern,
to make a different holes, irregular holes, quadrilateral holes…
In Ane’s subject we started designing and putting the
settings of our company. We made the logo’s first draws, the slogan and the
setting of our own product, graphic tab. Our company’s name is I.P.D
(Interactive Pen Displays).
And of course in English subject we actualize the blog.
In this week, we learned some concepts of physics calculations such as bending processes. With Gaizka we put these concepts into practice through exercises.
On the other hand Julen taught us different Catia exercises such as multipad, hole and pocket. All valid for the construction of parts.
