Thirteenth step

This week we had an important presentation. We present the design of our dies in front of the student of 2 CMM ( the student who are going to do the dies), the student of 1DFM , and some representatives of different companies in the area . This representatives know a lot about dies ,so they take part in the presentation pointing mistakes and making suggestions, making the experience very educational.

Apart of that, in the project of the pneumatic motor , we chose the groups´s sketch. After that we started and finished the 3D design of the motor in one week.

We also have a CATIA exam, and a visit to Matrici. A company that makes dies, seeing in the visit all the process of the design ,fabrication, assembly and verification of dies. The same that we have to do, to simulate, with the project of our die.

Thirteenth step

The most important thing that we made this week was the presentation to the students of 2CMM and 1DFM, apart of people from different business who had participated into the presentation contributing their point of view. These business-mans told us the mistake tha we have done in our desingns.

We have done a Catia exam this week too and we continued with the neumatic motor design. We also have gone to Matrici business, wich makes diferent dies of the side of the cars

ANTON EGUIA

This week we have two important things to do in class. First, finish and presentate the job we have done until now. We have to make the presentation about the die in front other courses of manufacturing processes and fabrication (1, 2 CMM and 1DFM) and the people of important companies around Durango (Gestamp, Gallastegui, Pierburg, Egaña), so we have to do it the best we can. 

Also, we have to visit the company Matrici, which is in Zamudio. In this company the dies for important car brands are made. First, the engineering of the die, then, the design and the respective tests. Then, the die is fabricated in the workshop of the company and finally, the comlete die is checked. 

We have to do an exam of Catia and work in the design of the pneumatical motor to comply the terms of the callenge.

We have made the most important presentation of the course in front of the people of the companies, and part of it in English.

We have also visited matrici, and we have done a very important Catia exam for the note.

Twelfth step

This week we have a lot of different works to do. In first place we need to prepare different presentations.  We make two power point, one for the presentation of the design of the die and another one for EIE, in which we explain the steps that we take to make our fictitious company and the product we are going to make and sell in it.  Apart of prepare this power points we made the presentation of EIE this week.

We also do a speaking exam on the English subject ,making some role play in pair for this.

Apart of that we started with the new project, the one with others schools. First we need to meet our teammates of Salesianos. We started chatting the last week, but we hadn´t meet each other in “person”, so we made some video conference to see each other and made the planning of the week.

We analysed the project and done the first sketch of the design of the pneumatic motor. Each member of the group did theirs and then we putt all in common to choose the group´s  sketch.

Twelfth step

To begin this week we started reading the starting data of the new design proyect. To make the proyect we have contacted by video call with Salesianos to know how can we start working and following wich guide.

This first week we have made the sketches of our self view of the design putting all in Drive and choosing the best one to continue with.

This week we have done the EIE presentation in front of the class too. In this presentation we introduce our product dividing the presentation in diferent parts.

ANTON EGUIA

This week we have a lot of work to do. First, we have to prepare two presentations for different subjects, about the design of the die and the presentation of the product we made in our company of EIE. In the presentation of the die we have to show the different elements we designed for our own die. Ini add, we have to explain the hypothetical cost of the elements and the action of make a piece into the die. For EIE, like I said before, we have to show our product. We designed the last weeks a graphic tablet for people, companies and universities. So it will be interesting to do, also compare our financial planning with the rest of the teams of the class. 

In the challenge from distance with other school (Salesianos Deusto) we are not working too much, because we have a lot of things to do here. But we have made conferences with the laptop. We have designed the first sketches of the pneumatical motor.

We have begun to make the sketches for the pneumatic engine.
We have also prepared quite important presentations for this week.
This new project we are going to do with people from other schools and my work partner is going to be Aitor Artetxe, an old partner.

Eleventh step

This week was a critical Week. We need to finish the design of the die and submit it by the end of the week. We were late with the design so in order to finish it in time we had to spent a lot of time working outside of class hours ,coming to the class at afternoons because we haven got CATIA at home.

Finally , be the end the week , we finished the design, within the delivery date. Putting and end t weeks and weeks of design work.  But we have not finished the project yet, only the design part. We still have a long way to go before finishing the die.

Apart of that we made a little exam  , to demonstrate what we have learned about dies in this project.

Leaving that aside, to take a short break from the dies, we are going to do a new project. A short one. This is going to take two of three weeks only and is going to be done with members of others school.  This week we have the presentation of this project ,learning what we need to do in it ( a pneumatic motor) , and what will be the working groups. Also which school is going to work which.  They need groups of four or five persons , two of three for each school. We are going to work with Salesianos de Deusto, a school of Bilbao.

Eleventh step

This week the die has to be finnished to start a new proyect. After several weeks designing a die we completed it this week but it was not finnished all the work yet.

The new proyect was about making a design of a pneumatic engine. This new poryect has to be done with students of annother center in Bilbao.

Apart of this we started preparing the presentation of the die to make it in front of people of different businnes.

ANTON EGUIA

Like the last week we have to work fast, because there is not too much time for make all the things we have to do, so we have to work harder than ever. The design of the die has to be finished inmediately, because in other case we will not arrive to the date of the delivery and to the day of the oral presentation fore the people of the different companies of our sector. 

Like the last week we have to distribute so good the work, so it’s important to stay in alert in all the moments of the week.

In add, we have to pass an exam about the industry and specifically about dies.

To finish, we have to make the second project of the course. This project is going to be a project between schools, that schools like ours have to design a pneumatical motor and then it is going to manufacture in other schools. So it is going to be really important the relationships between us to make a nice work.

 The school that is going to work with us is Salesianos of Deusto.

A very difficult week in which we had to finish the project of the die to start a new project, in which it has been talked about that we are going to work with people from Bilbao.

It will be a bit strange to work with unknown people but it will be a nice experience.

Tenth step

Yaiza Guerra 

This week is very similar to the previous one . We are on the last week of the design and we are late. We have little time to finish the design of the die before the student of mechanical course started to make it , the teachers delayed the date to finish it but still, we are late. So in the next week we need to dedicate most of our time to finish the design.

So this week we distribute the work the same way. Some of team members make the calculus and after that started doing the memory of the project and started ordering the data of the calculus. This way the teams members that are with the commercial elements can search quickly for the data they need to choose the elements.

In my case I continue with the design in CATIA.  I finished witch the elements that we don’t need to design, the elements that the give us. Once I finish it a started with the design of our elements. I take the design of the sheet , and I do the work basing on it . I started making the die (“matriz”) for the cutting and blending operations.  After making them I put them in the correct places of the die ,and once in the place they need to be I adjusted the die plate. Making in the die plate the cavities necessaries to put the dies inside them. 

I also insert in the design some of the draw of the commercial elements that my teammates make. The commercial dies for example.

In the tenth week Anton and me finished the calculations, we made a Excel top ut all the answers together and for having it all organized. When the Excel was completed we passed it to a Word completting that part of the report. Then I started making the report putting together all the parts done before by all the teamates, everyone have done his part and putted in Drive.

The last 3 weeks has been all similar for the team because the proyect occupies all the time of the clasess and we have to use the time we have the best to finnish the die.

In EAE and Catia`s clasess we have done the same as the past week.

ANTON EGUIA

This week we have done the same than the last. We are updating the design about the die, improving details about it. We have to finish this work fastly to make the planes to manufacture the pieces inmediately.

I think that if we make these planes as son as we can, we will detect the problems sooner, so the most important think is on it.

For this, the better way to solv these problems is to distribute the work with criterion, so we think that all the members of the team would make a part of the work. So, we have distributed the work like before: Calculous, materials, design, standarized elements of the die, administration of the team and the business plan.

We have update our pieces and design in Catia too but we havent had a clases about it, we have update our ‘Design tree’ for it with Gaizka. With Ane we have learned to start a Little business and the necessary parameters for it.

With Richard we have done grammatical  excercises about our degree to improve our skills and take better the way to talk in english. Also we have update the blog.

Nineth step

This week the teacher (Julen) teach us how to make assemblies on CATIA . We started making a pretty simple assembly to used it like a example. While we make the pieces of this assembly the teacher teach us how to introduced the pieces in the assembly, how to move it once we introduce it, how to link one piece with another one…

So know that we know how the assemblies work we can start making the assembly of our die.

Some team members continue making the calculus, like last week. Other ones continue with the materials and the search of the commercial elements (the ones that we buy, like columns, sleeves…). Once the element are chosen they also draw it in CATIA.  In this way we can insert later the commercial elements  in our assembly and the design does not have to been done by one person only.

In the meantime , with the “Arbol” finished and knowing how to make assemblies, I start making the assembly that will be our design. I started drawing and introducing the elements that we already have. For example, we already have the frames of our die, also the press in which it is going to work. After making them I started drawing other pieces of our die. In the beginning draw it very simple, making only the outer shape of it with its corresponding measures. In this way we can see where each element goes and changes its position and measures if it is necessary. Later we finish the piece, which the help of other elements that are going to be related with it and based on the first and simple draw.

In this nineth week we continued with the same work of the past one, finishing the work that we have to make for the design of the die. Me and Anton continued and finished the calculations, making a Word for having it clean and organized. Meanwhile Diego continued wiht the materials for the die and Markel finding normalizated elements and doing it in Catia. Yaiza, with the Catia tree done, continued inserting previous done elements to the assemble of the die.

In the Julen`s Catia classes we learnt different ways to do a piece, using one or another tool for having the same result.

In EAE our business keeps going, doing the DAFO and having some explanatios.

ANTON EGUIA

This week we have learned to make assemblies in software Catia. We have done a simple assembly to learn it. Then we have to make the assembly of the die, so we have to practice.

I have continued making calculus of the die to define better the dimensions and cantity of our elements. Also I have looked different materials to asign to the elements. There are materials with different capacities (Mechanical and chemical properties) and we have to choose the correct one in the different cases. To finish we have searched the stansarized elements we need.

Eighth step

ANDONI SOTO

In this eighth week we continued with self work doing our rol in the team. All teamates continued doing a part of the poryect, and my part was to do the diferent calculations for the design of the die. The claculations we have done were about bending and cutting of the band; calculus for the awls and springs, and to dimensionate the die.

In Catia, Julen’s subject, we have done some parts and pieces to learn another new tools. Those tools were some like: copy/paste, translation, rotation etc.

In Ane’s EAE subject we have done theory for the business and making our enpresarial ethic.

Gaizka solved us some questions too, being attentive and helpfull for people who needed his help.

Once we choose the design of the sheet we can start designing the die. But before we started with it we need to do some previous work. We need to learn how to make an assembly on CATIA , we know how to do individual pieces but not how to put it together and attach one with another.  We also need to do the  “Arbol” in our assembly before we started designing on it and inserting the different pieces on it.  The called “Arbol” is going to be basis of design, the core of it.  It is the way we are going to organize our design, how many part is going to have, how are the pieces going to be ordered… It is a very important part of the design, very complicated one, and the first step to started with the design.

So this week the teacher (Gaizka) take one member of its team (me in the case of our team) to explain how to make this “Arbol”. We go to another room to do that , and after the explanation is completed and our questions are answered we go back to the classroom. When we explain what the “Arbol” is and how to make it to the rest of the team members. After that we need to make on our Arbol , with the explanations Gaizka give us and using the teachers Arbol as an example.

So this week I spent most of the time doing this Arbol, taking time to do that calmly to don’t fail doing it. Its very easy to mess it up and in that case you have to redo it or fix it. That is going to take a lot of time so is more efficient to take it calmly and do it at once instead of make it quickly and badly.

This is a work for one team member only so while I am with this the rest of the team members continued with others works to advanced the design. Two of my companions are making the calculus necessaries to know the size of some die pieces, to know the minimum distance between two components, the forces we are going to need to the different operations our die is going to do… Another two team members are looking the materials of different components   and pieces and looking different catalogues to look for components that we need or we can buy instead of making it in the workshop.

ANTON EGUIA

This week we have started designing our die. We have a lot of information about our project and we have to put it correctly in the design. Per example, we have a lot of dimensions of different pieces already, so we have put them in the software to draw.

 

First, Gaizka teach us how to make a design tree. In our case, in the tree there are 3 important parts:

1) Top set 2) Lower set 3) Starting data

With these parts we can start designing the pieces. Also we have learned how to make an assembly in the software Catia to start designing the die.

Later, we started to look at catalogs of standardized elements to put in the die. There are many companies around Durango that sold standarized elements, so is not very difficult to find the elements we need in the design of the die. Per example, there is Gallastegui. It is an important company here, in the Bask Country. Also, there is Unceta, that is in Elgoibar, and they sold a lot of elements of die sector.

 

Seventh step

This week we continue with the task of the previous week. Once we got all of the sheet design that we made the previous week we compare all. We see other team members design and explain the advantages and disadvantages that we see in others work. After discussing all of the alternatives for the team sheet design we decided that we aren’t going to choose one of the design. We are going to make a new design, among all, and taking into account the things we see and discus in the induvial designs.   

We make the team design, and after finishing it we analysed it again. We see small failures of things  we can improve , and keeping that in mind we change our design again, making a new one. The final metal sheet design of our team.

Apart of that,in the other subjects, we make a exam in English. A writing exam , we need to write a formal letter as if we were part of a company and we want to sell our product. We also write a text explaining what are we doing in this course, the methodology of the course and our opinion about it.

In EIE we start making a video to promote our product and our company. We used GoAnimate program for it. 

ANDONI SOTO

In this week we started with the group band designing and making it in Catia. To check it, we went to speak with Gaizka and he told us that the design was not bad. To make it we were all in a computer telling how to design it to th person who was doing it. When we finished it we made a short explanation of how it works.

In Catia we continued doing diferent pieces that Julen gave us and doing their planes having in account the theory done before.

We made an english exam too. This exam was composed by two writting about teamwork and selling a product that the gave us. To do one of them we have to take in account that it was a formal letter and that it has an especific structure.

In Ane´s subject we continued the video for our product made with GoAnimate program.

MARKEL ZEARRETA

This week we started designing the band in Catia, at the end we gave a little explanation about our project.

In the subject of Julen, we begin with the parameterisations of the pieces that he supplies to us.

In the subject of Ane, we continue with the creation of the video about our project.

In this week we have done our band in Catia taking into account each and every one of the parameters, and calculations we have done so far.

We have done a video to promote our product in EIE.

We have done a Catia exercises with julen and we learn how to put parameters in the pieces of our products.

We made an English exam with Richard and we continue with C.V and cover letters.

ANTON EGUIA

We have put all of our team members’ sheet design in common and we choose the better one to the final design. In this case all of us have voted the prefer sheet. In this vote we all have take account of advantages and disadvantages of the sheets. We have choosed this design to develop:

We have done an English exam. It was a writing. In the first part specifically was a formal letter, and the second part a personal opinion of a team work. In my case I think I done a good exam.

With Ane we started making a video to publicize our product. In this commercial the product features appear. We also learned to use techniques to get attention

Sixth Step

Yaiza Guerra 

This week we have devoted most of the time to design the sheet of our die. This is the first step to design the die.  In the design of the sheet we are going to define the operations that our die will make and the order of this operations. With the sheet design we also see the elements the die is going to need in order to do the piece, when are this elements placed and the amount of it. So is going to determine the rest of the design of the entire tool. So is very important job.

In order to do it each group member is going to design his own sheet.  Once every sheet is finished we are going to compare all of the design and decide what is going to be the group sheet design. But that will be next week. This week we only make the individual design , making it with CATIA ( specifically with CATIA´s “Generative sheetmetal Design” tool) . This is my design  

Apart of that we continue with CATIA ,learned this week about BODY´s and how work with them.  Also in EIE we make the RGI ( “reglamente de regimen interno”, internal regulations) of our fictional company. 

ANDONI SOTO

In this week we made individually our band for the horquilla piece and we finished it. When we finished our design we compared it with other teammates and we choose one for the group. The group band has the best part from each individal band and the next week we started designing it in the group. With Gaizka that´s the only thing we have done in this week.

In Julen´s subject we continued with new Catia options, learning how to do same pieces in diferent ways. The new way that we learnt to do some pieces is with bodies, doing 2 diferent parts inside the piece and adding or removing one to each other.

In the other subjects we continued with our business making a video for it and preparing the exam of the next week of english subject.

MARKEL ZEARRETA

This week we decided which one was going to the definitive band of the group, which we designed with the best of the bands of each one. Soon wewill designing in the group.

In the subject of Julen, we continue to learn different ways of making the pieces, such as using different bodies in the same piece.

In the other subjects as an enpresa, we continue to deepen the subject by creating a video.

ANTON EGUIA

This week we have done the design of the sheet of our die. In the sheet there are some points to start the design of all the die. Per example, the dimension of the cutting and bending punches and the dimension of the matrixes. Other important point in the sheet is the positioning of the guides of the sheet. After design the sheet we can do the design of the punches with the form of the matrix. Firstly we have to make the calculus of the perimeter of these forms to know the force of cutting and vending and after design the punches.

In Catia we learned to design bodies to make more easier the construction of the pieces. This is so valuable to make a modification after finish the piece.

With Ane we have advanced the work and started with the publicity of our company’s product.

We have finished our individual bands, and we have presented them to the other members of the group. We have detected the problems of each one and we have chosen how we want to do it.

In EIE we have made the organizational chart to be clear about our position in the company and we have done several investigations about the parts of a company and its members.

In English we have done vocabulary exercises and short writings. With gaizka we have begun to collect information that we will need for the creation of our progressive die.

Fifth Step

This week has been a short one. The Thursday and the Friday we had got any class , it was national holiday. So we only had three days of class. We spent most of the week studying about blending and cutting, reviewing the things that we had already studied in the last weeks. The Monday , to review the theoretical contents, we done some Kahoot! This is some kind of game. The teacher (in this case Gaizka), prepare a quiz with different questions about  dies, materials, cutting,blending… and we compete in groups. To see which group answer correctly more questions and respond faster. We play five Kahoot, our team won two of them. It was fun.

On Wednesday we have the exam, that´s why we played Kahoot on Monday. The exam was separated in two parts. The first of it the theoretical part, with ten short questions. The second one and the long part of the exam was the practical exercise. In which we need to use CATIA program to make a draw before doing the calculus to get the answers they asked us. We had three hours to do it.

Apart of that we continue with the other subject. We continued practicing with CATIA, doing our fictional company and completing the blog. 

ANDONI SOTO

This week we have a shorter than the others because we have holliday last 2 days. We continued doing some band exercises about cutting and bending because we have an exam of gaizka and we were reviewing the lesson. 

We continued with Catia program too, doing the pieces and their plans, and apart of that we continued with the blog and making our business in Ane´s subject.

On monday we play kahoot with exam questions to have an idea to what´s going to enter in the exam.

When we make the exam it was divided in 2 parts: theory and practice, having 2 diferent notes.

MARKEL ZEARRETA

In this week, in the subject of Julen, we segented practicing what he learned now with increasingly difficult pieces.



On the other hand, as far as the other subjects are concerned, we created the work on the die.

ANTON EGUIA

This week have been really short, because the two last days were holiday for us. We have done an exam in the subject of Gaizka on wednesday. The days before were days for the study. To prepare the exam we did some Kahoot excercises. These excercises were good to practice. All the class made it at the same moment, so the environment was competitive and funny.

With Julen we done excercises to practice with Catia, and in the other subjects we have advanced work.
